Les quatre coloris de bracelets Royal Pulse montés sur des Swatch x AP Royal Pop

Which Royal Pulse Strap Colorway to Choose for Your Watch

Four colorways, one watch, and a question that comes up with every order: should you match the strap to your Royal Pop, or play up the contrast? Here is how to decide, colorway by colorway.

The principle: match or contrast

The Royal Pop is a colorful watch, often a very colorful one. Two schools of thought face off, and both hold up.

Matching means extending the case with a strap from the same color family. The whole reads as a single piece, the watch looks larger on the wrist, and the result stays understated even on a vivid reference. It is the safest choice, especially for a first strap.

Contrasting means setting a neutral strap against a colorful case, or the other way around. The case becomes the focal point, and the watch pairs more easily with business wear. It is the choice of owners who already have several straps and rotate them.

If you are hesitating, start with the colorway that matches your case. The second strap is almost always a neutral.

The four Royal Pulse colorways

Black

The most versatile of the four, and our default recommendation if you are only getting one. It works on any reference, from the most understated case to the most colorful, and it does not show wear marks. It is also the only one you can wear with a suit without a second thought.

White

The most summery, and by far the most photogenic on a light case. It creates a sharp contrast on a dark watch and a monochrome effect on a white one. Choose it only if you are willing to rinse it regularly: a light strap shows marks faster than a dark one, and that holds true for every maker.

Blue

The middle ground between black and color. Deep enough to stay discreet at the office, distinctive enough not to be a mere fallback black. It works especially well on midnight blue cases, where it extends the shade, and on light cases, where it anchors the whole look.

Pink

The boldest of the four. It fully embraces the spirit of the collection, and it is the colorway that transforms the watch the most. On a pink case, the effect is decidedly monochrome. On a neutral case, it takes center stage. One to get as a second or third strap, rarely as a first.

How to choose in thirty seconds

  • One strap, everyday wear: Black.
  • One strap, very colorful case: the colorway that matches your case, or Black to tone things down.
  • Second strap: Blue if the first is Black, Black if the first is colorful.
  • You want to rotate: all four, as a pack.

Does the material change with the colorway?

No. All four colorways are molded from the same fluoroelastomer, with the same geometry and the same attachment. You are only choosing a shade, never a technical trade-off. Swapping from one strap to another takes a few seconds and requires no tools.

Should you get more than one?

That is the logic of the product. A strap costs a fraction of the watch's price, and swapping straps is the only way to change the look of a Royal Pop, whose case comes in a single design. The four-colorway pack exists for that very reason, with a tiered discount starting at two straps.

Frequently asked questions

Does the colorway need to match my watch reference?

Technically no, every colorway is equally compatible. It is an aesthetic choice, not a compatibility one. What matters for compatibility is the crown position on your watch.

Does the white one yellow over time?

Fluoroelastomer does not yellow the way cheap silicone does. It does pick up dirt like any light-colored strap, and cleans up with fresh water.

Can I switch colorways every day?

Yes, that is exactly what it is designed for. The quick-release attachment operates by hand, without tools.
